Nature Resources

To my dear professor

To Dan

It’s the last day for 3-week program students to study in Cornell, so a talent show is held in Apel Commons tonight. I had been expecting to see American students’ after-school talents, so I came there very early. To my surprise, the first performer was Elaine! She sang a song of Rihanna’s called “Take a bow”. At the end of her singing, the audience broke into cheers and people got drunk in her beautiful voice. The next singer also came from China; she sang a Chinese traditional song. Although most of people couldn’t understand her lyric, they listened carefully and tried to imagine the glorious scene of the song.

After several programs, I suddenly remembered there was also an outdoor concert held on the lane in front of Olin Library at the same time with the talent show. I really didn’t want to miss it so I rushed there within 5 minutes. A lot of local people came to the concert. Some of them brought sling chairs with them to make themselves more comfortable; others just sat or lay on the grass. No matter in which posture, they all seemed to enjoy themselves. Some old couples were not resigned to only sit and listen, so they stood up and began to dance with the music in front of the musicians. I felt like I was rowing a boat leisurely in a sea of harmony.
